Our Story

From the Clay & Coal Tandoor

Indian dishes use exotic spices — and an insight into the blending of herbs and spices that will capture your heart at first encounter.

At Clay and Coal, everything revolves around our traditional charcoal-fired clay tandoor: smoky tandoori chicken, hand-stretched naan baked fresh to order, and slow-simmered curries built on freshly ground spices.

A relaxed, family-friendly restaurant in Cumberland Park — dine in, take away, BYO (wine) and fully licenced, with gluten free, lactose free and nut free options right across the menu.

Hemant created this menu with experience gathered over many years — from his home country India, the world-famous five star hotel "The Taj Mahal", and many outstanding restaurants in Adelaide.

His recipes have been published in the Taste of Australian Food and Wine and Mum's Favourite Recipe books.
